We would like to say a big thank you to our partners on One Giant Read, The Poetry Archive, for providing recordings of some of our selected poems.
Here’s a little bit more about the wonderful work they do…
The Poetry Archive is a charitable organisation, which exists to make poetry accessible and enjoyable for a wide audience. Founded in 2005 by Sir Andrew Motion, during his time as U.K. Poet Laureate, and the recording producer, Richard Carrington, the Archive makes and preserves recordings of readings by key poets, past and present, from around the English-speaking world. The Archive’s recordings are accompanied on their website by portrait photographs and information about the poets and their work. The site also includes new recordings by today’s poets of the work of great poets who died before the age of recording. The Archive is widely used in schools and it also runs Poetry by Heart, the annual poetry recitation competition for secondary-school students in England. The Poetry Archive demonstrates that listening to poets reading their work is uniquely enjoyable – a source both of illumination and pleasure.
