Dr Mairi Knight is currently the head of the school of biological sciences at Plymouth University.
Dr Knight’s main fields of interest are the evolutionary and ecological processes that give rise to biodiversity; she employs molecular techniques alongside lab and field based practice. She is also interested in gene flow between populations and her research concerned with how these processes operation in populations which are declining. This led to an interest in scientific conservation work and how this can be developed by engaging with further research.
In this film, Dr Knight discusses her interest in science and her passion for researching and teaching in the STEM subjects
