Here at One Giant Read HQ, we're always on the lookout for new science themed books to share with our Giant Readers, which is why we're delighted to share news of a brand new science themed poetry-prose book with you.
Robot Squirrel is a playful sequence of poetry and prose with strong visual elements about a robot trying to be a squirrel. There are themes of personal identity, fluidity of identity, fragmentation and displacement, in an absurdist setting with brilliant illustrations by John Kilburn.
The book is published by zimZalla, one of the leading publishers of experimental poetry and poetry objects.
Luke Thompson’s first pamphlet, The Clearing, was published in 2016 by Atlantic Press and won the Michael Marks Award for Illustration for the artwork by Mairead Dunne. The same year, Luke published a biography of the poet Jack Clemo. He has edited books for Common Ground and Enitharmon and runs his own small press, Guillemot Press. He is also a lecturer at Falmouth University.
