Sci-fi fans were in for a treat yesterday, whilst many were finishing their strawberries and cream and reflecting on the close of Wimbledon for another year, we were joining the legions of Doctor Who fans in remaining glued to our televisions for just another minute.
In a surprise twist as the last ‘Ace’ was served, the BBC stalwart show kicked off the count down to their 13th series with a special trailer answering that burning question, who is 13?
After months of speculation following Peter Capaldi’s impending departure during the Christmas special this year, the BBC have revealed that former Broadchurch and Attack the Block actor, Jodie Whittaker has been handed the keys to everyone’s favourite time-travelling police box.
Whittaker is the show’s first ever female Doctor and we can’t wait to see what she brings to the role.
Whittaker joins Broadchurch writer Chris Chibnall for the latest season. We know that Whittaker and Chibnall produce stellar drama together and can’t wait to see what they’ll bring to the show.
’13’ will make her debut as she regenerates in the Christmas special.
Congratulations Jodie, on behalf of One Giant Read and long may you travel time!
